You Take the Helm

I woke beneath a different sky, The old life fading with the night. You called my name; I came alive, And now I walk where You lead me. You go before, I follow close. Through every road I do not know, Your presence is my steady ground. I was lost, but now I’m found. Jesus, You take the helm, I leave the shore behind. The wind may rise, the waters turn; I know whose hand is guiding mine. New horizons, new life in view— I’m living in the Spirit, following You. A white boat waits upon the sea. You stand at the wheel and look at me. I take my seat; the sail fills wide. The harbor falls behind. The sun brings fruit I could not grow; The passing moons bring gifts I’ll know. In every season, day and night, Your blessing meets me on this ride. Jesus, You take the helm, I leave the shore behind. The wind may rise, the waters turn; I know whose hand is guiding mine. New horizons, new life in view— I’m living in the Spirit, following You. I don’t need to see the distant land. I see the wheel beneath Your hands. What lies ahead is Yours to show; Just speak the word, and I will go. Jesus, You take the helm, The morning breaks across the tide. You go before; I follow You. The life You gave has opened wide. New horizons, new life in view— I’m living in the Spirit, following You. You go before. I follow You.
