Your Hands Are All I Need

Englischer Originaltext · Produktionsanweisungen für die Lesefassung ausgeblendet.

The last lights fade along the shore, My hands still gripping tight. The white hull rises with the swell And carries us into the night. You stand beside the turning wheel, I watch Your hands, then watch the sea. I thought I’d left my fears behind, But they came aboard with me. You turn to me and say my name. I let the silence break. The things I never dared to speak— I bring them all to You. I lay my burdens in Your hands, The fears I carried from the shore. I hear Your voice above the waves, And I can breathe once more. I cannot see the distant land, But You are here with me. Jesus, hold me through this night— Your hands are all I need. I tell You of the days I lost, The ones I could not save, The words that keep me wide awake, The strength I tried to fake. You listen till the words run out. No shame upon Your face. My fingers loosen from the rail; I leave that weight in grace. The boat still moves beneath my feet, The wind still fills the sail. I take a breath and sit with You; I trust You with the rest. I lay my burdens in Your hands, The fears I carried from the shore. I hear Your voice above the waves, And I can breathe once more. I cannot see the distant land, But You are here with me. Jesus, hold me through this night— Your hands are all I need. Here is tomorrow. Here is my past. Here are the questions I’ve held so fast. Here in the darkness, With nothing to prove, I open my hands And give them to You. I lay my burdens in Your hands, The fears I carried from the shore. I hear Your voice above the waves, And I can breathe once more. Before the morning finds this boat, Before the land comes into view, I rest beneath the open sky— My life is safe with You. The waves still rise. The night runs deep. Your hands hold the wheel. I fall asleep.
