You Live in Me

The sand is warm beneath my feet, The white boat rests beside the shore. You walk with me into the day; I wonder what these hands are for. Beyond the dunes, a crowded street, A thousand lives I’ve never known. I pause before we reach the road— What could I give them of my own? Then I recall the love You gave, The cross You bore for me. The life I live is Yours to fill; Your Spirit breathes in me. You live in me, Jesus, You live in me. The One who loved and gave His life Has made His home in me. With every breath, With every step I take, Let the love You poured into my heart Reach someone on the way. You live in me. I used to hide behind my words, Afraid that someone might see through. But You have seen me as I am, And still You call me loved by You. I don’t have every answer yet, But I have time to stop and hear. There’s someone sitting by the road; I take a breath and draw him near. The love that met me in the dark Now gives me strength to stay.
